Story
NAME Carol Frece
OCCUPATION Community Nurse
GROUP NAME Wanna Funk
I am a Monaro local born in Cooma, raised in Nimmitabel where I made lifelong friends. I am the youngest of six in the O’Reilly family.
At age 18 I moved to Cooma, made it my home and started my nursing career.
I am married and have two adult sons and great family support.
I enjoy overseas travel, Aqua aerobics, walking, Pilates and Yoga.
I love a party but no dancing skills.
My hobbies are Lead lighting, gardening, fishing and Cooking.
I like to look on the bright side of life and enjoy helping others.
I am motivated by a challenge and here I am developing new skills and being part of a fantastic group of people to raise money for MCCR.
I feel very honoured to be asked to participate as one of the dancers in Hot City Disco, but I am also terrified because I am no on-stage performer, and my dancing skills are limited.
If I can help raise money for this amazing organisation, I am happy to put my self out of my comfort zone.
I have seen the tireless work MCCR provide and the benefits to our community.
They funded the building of the Cooma Oncology unit and Contribute to Cancer research.
They assist families financially through their Cancer treatment and much more!
I think everyone has a special person in their life who has experienced cancer treatment and if I can help raise money to ease their burden a little, I will have achieved my goal.
Please dig deep and support me in my venture to raise as much money as possible to help support Cancer patients and their families in our local community.

Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated
The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
