NAME Ellen Rummery
OCCUPATION Chain of Responsibility Compliance Coordinator
GROUP NAME Wanna Funk
I have officially called Cooma home since 2020. Originally, I’m from a little town in Northern NSW called Walgett, where I grew up in a tight-knit rural community. After spending my high-school, university, and early career venturing around NSW, I eventually made the move to the Snowy Mountains, which is the ideal location in my eyes - close to the mountains, the beach, and the city. I love to explore all things the region has to offer; I can only hope that one day I’ll fully acclimatize to the frosty winter mornings – they are spectacular!
I am participating in the Hot City Disco because it represents such a worthy and important cause that will truly help so many people in the Monaro community in different ways. I’m an un-coordinated dancer, but regardless of this I’m very excited and honored to be a ‘star’, as it will be a good challenge and a bit of light-hearted fun, with a huge impact on cancer research and facilities. It is a great way to get the community together to achieve something amazing!
Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated
The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
