Story

I have been a Monaro local for the past 22 years, moving here with my partner Simon and our son Hamish in 2002 to join his family farm in Bombala. Since then, we have grown our family to include our son Oly, plus dogs, cows and far too many sheep!
I am a Geography Teacher at Bombala High, where I have taught for the past 20+ years – in fact, I have taught a few of my dance teammates!
I am passionate about travel, nature, photography and love a good book. I have travelled throughout the world and once worked for Qantas in my early 20s.
I love a good boogie, a cold G&T and night of laughter and can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on for mcCr.
When first asked to participate, my first reaction was ‘why me?’ but I quickly changed that to ‘why not?’. Facing the reality of cancer is becoming more common than it should be and getting up on stage to do my bit is an easy way to help. Playing my part to raise funds for a cause that sadly affects us all at some point, is a small price to pay. You may laugh at me or with me, but the main point is you enjoy it – I know I will!

Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated
The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
