Story
Hi there,
I'm dancing for the MCCR because cancer has hit my family and friends hard, it nearly took my mum and aunty and it took my grandparents and my best mate; the Godfather of my kids. I've got about as much rhythm and dance skill as sedated slug but for a cause sticking the middle finger to cancer then I'll gladly shimmy left and right on stage. I've only recently moved to the area so hadn't heard of the MCCR until my wife threw my hat in the ring for the Summit Soul Shakers but I was blown away by not just the work the MCCR do but how the community get behind this cause and the event. I don't think I'll remember all the steps when they raise the curtain but whatever happens I'm sure it'll be funny.
Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated
The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
